The Technology Education Special Interest Council (TESIC) of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association (NLTA) exists to foster professional growth and development of its membership in the areas of Technology Education and Technology Integration.TESIC also advocates for the special interests of Technology Educators and attempts to liason with other partners in the educational enterprise for the welfare of its membership as well as the development of students in areas influenced by Technology Education.
TESIC's main event is its Biennial General Meeting and Conference (BGM) which is held every two years at changing venues. The event offers educators an opening evening featuring either a keynote or presentation followed by a full day of professional learning sessions. A vital part of the conference is the BGM where the activities of the council over the last term are reviewed, issues relevant to TESIC’s mandate are discussed, and an election is held to fill the Executive slate. It is an important and significant event in a council’s term in office. It gives teachers an opportunity to connect with each other, helps guide TESIC’s priorities for the coming term, and is an important source of renewal. While its primary activities are the BGM and Conference, TESIC seeks to host other smaller events and constantly advocate on our members behalf.
